Poker History

Altough it is unknown where the poker game had emerged, it is believed that the game exists for hundreds of years, if not for thousands. The first reference to the modern game was by the player Joseph Crowel, in 1829. Crowel had described in his papers a card game that people had played on ships in New Orleans, where each player received 5 cards, there was a bet involved and the winning player had won a pot of bets.

The next reference came later in 1843. Jonathan A. Green described the game in his book and had said that the game was invented just 13 years ago.

The origin of poker in the worlds is also unknown. Most history books claim that the origin game is in the French game of "poque" played in the 18th century. on the other hand, some people say that the game's origin is in the German game of "pochspid" that has an element of bluffing where the player decides whether to quit the game or not.
